Albert James Austin

Albert James Austin, a retired engineer formerly with Aramco and Exxon and World War II and Korean War Veteran, died on Monday October 27th 2008, surrounded by family. He was 88.

He was born in Enid, Oklahoma, January 11, 1920, to Burt Moore Austin and Daisy Olive Oliver. He graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in chemical engineering. He then traveled the world with his wife, Phyllis, living in Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, England, and Houston. He retired in the Onalaska/Lake Livingston area for ten years before moving to The Woodlands, Texas.

He was an elder and pianist at Pine Forest Baptist Church, and later attended The Fellowship of the Woodlands. Jim was an avid gardener and loved music especially Big Band and Jazz.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Phyllis Ann Austin; son, Greg Williams of Montgomery, Texas; daughter Kay Butterworth of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son Joey Williams of Gastonia, North Carolina; daughter Diane Hensley of Nacogdoches, Texas; and son Michael Austin of Willis TX, and10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on November 1, at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, The Woodlands, Texas. Reverend Jacob Cordell will be officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
