Aseel, Horse of the Year for the 1956-57 Corral season died Wednesday night, Jan. 15, at the Corral. He was 12 years old.
Aseel came to Saudi Arabia from Baghdad in 1953 when he was seven years old, bought by the Landhoops of SAG Railroad. In 1954 Rose Murphy bought him and moved him from Dammam to the Dhahran Hobby Farm. When Rose left Saudi Arabia in 1955 for the United States, she sold Aseel to Dean Cantrell. In September, 1957, Cantrell sold Aseel to Mary Kristofferson.
