Charles Vincent Abate, 86, passed away at his residence on June 27, 2018.

He was born on September 21, 1931 in Lake Charles, LA to Phillip and Rosabelle Williams Abate. He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1948 before attending McNeese State University. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he worked for 26 years at Cities Service, then nine years in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia employed by ARAMCO as a shift superintendent. He then worked one and half years in the oil and gas refineries for Hunt Oil Co.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kenneth Abate of Alexandria, LA; daughter, Sandra Abate of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Tony Fazzio, Kristen Sonnier LeMaire and husband Kade, Derek Abate; step-grandchild, Joshua Carter of Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Jude and Ezra LaMaire; and step-great-grandchild Carsten Carter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years, Helen Vera Abate; sister, Marie Ann Abate Rider; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Abate.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Per his request, there will be no services.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Heart of Hospice in Lake Charles, LA for their compassion and care.
