Joseph Edward Destefano, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away in Houston on October 27, 2008, at the age of 84.

The only son of Frank and Dorothy, Joe was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts. His father, a talent scout for the NY Yankees, moved his family to New York City when Joe was a boy. At the age 13, he met the love of his life, Ruth Charlotte Bell who he married on June 18, 1948 after proudly serving in U.S. Army Air Corp in the South Pacific during WWII.

He graduated with a Degree in Accounting from NYU. Joe worked for the Arabian American Oil Company in New York City and moved with the Company to Houston in 1975. He retired from Aramco in 1985 after 32 years of service. A member of the Houston Italian Club, Joe love to play poker with his friends every Friday night.

Joe is survived by Ruth, his wife of 60 years, daughter and son-in-law Debra McNamara and Rodney Johnson of Houston Texas; grandchildren Jude McNamara III and Halley McNamara, Christa Johnson, Matthew Johnson and Kellie Johnson; nephew David Williams and Niece Lynn Egan and Lona Williams; great nieces and nephews, Barbara and Rob Blumenthal, Linda and Frank Patensti and; and 5 great-grand nieces and nephews.

Friends are cordially invited to memorial visitation being held from 7:00PM until 9:00PM on Thursday, the 30th of October at Brookside Funeral Home, Cypress Creek at 9149 Hwy 6 North. A Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church on Thursday, the 20th of November, followed by a Memorial Service at the Houston National Cemetery located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive.
