Rudolph T. Cunningham

Rudolph T. Cunningham passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 97 on February 8, 2016 in Arlington, Texas. Rudolph "Rudy" Cunningham was born on July 20, 1918 and grew up in Newark, New Jersey where he trained to be a machinist. He served in the Army as a young man and earned the rank of Staff Sargent. In 1948 he married Helen Rummel and the couple moved to Saudi Arabia where Rudy worked for ARAMCO Oil Co. for 10 years. After returning to New Jersey, Rudy and Helen and their 3 children moved to California where Rudy worked for Hughes Aircraft for 2 years before they settled in Phoenix Arizona. After working for Sperry Rand (Unisys) for 25 years he retired to enjoy time traveling with his wife. Coming up through the school of hard knocks made him very savvy to the realities of the world and peoples motivations, but it never colored his positive outlook on the world. He had a warm, friendly way about him and was nice to everyone. His kindness, easy going manner, and quick sense of humor made him a wonderful person to be around. He was devoted to his wife and spent his late years caring for her after a devastating series of health issues. He was never a person who complained during hard times and would always find something for which to be grateful. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Helen Cunningham, and survived by their children, Brian Cunningham of Tucson Arizona, Gail True of Tucson Arizona, and Nancy Palavicini of Arlington Texas.
