Sandra Kay McGinnes

Sandra Kay McGinnes was born on August 29, 1944 to James Bruton and Willie Mae (Gorum) Parker in Abbeyville, Louisiana. Sandi had received her Masters of Science, Information and Computer Science, from the University of Hawaii in 1973 and a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics, University of Washington, Seattle in 1966. After a very successful career, she joined her husband in Saudi Arabia when he accepted a position with Saudi Aramco. It meant taking one of the last flights into the Dhahran International Airport now King Abdulaziz Air Base! We were in Saudi Arabia.

While in Saudi, Sandi enjoyed sewing and quilting. Her love was the Dhahran Oasis Quilt Guild which she participated in from about 2000 to 2014. There, she met so many lifelong friends. She loved a good book to read, photography of some of the great old doors in the Kingdom, and was always up for a desert rose search. She had married Paul Edward Stobbe on September 17, 1998 in Honolulu, Hawaii. They made their home in the Houston area after retiring from Saudi Aramco in 2014.

Sandi passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 in Katy, Texas at the age of 78 years. She had made a valiant fight against ovarian cancer for almost 10 years. She died peacefully and with her family at her side.

Sandi is survived by her husband of 24 years, Paul Stobbe; daughters, Kim Ihilani McGinnes Loyd and her husband Russell Mark, Anne Elizabeth Huffer and her husband Matthew, and Allison Migliore and her husband Adam; grandchildren, Kayleen Kawena Loyd, Desiree Emilyn Loyd, Abel Huffer, Jonah Huffer, Sophia Migliore, and Audrey Migliore; sister, Patricia Ellen Parker; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
