Wilmer 'Wil' Edward Morgan

Wilmer "Wil" Edward Morgan, age 83, of Bullard, departed this life on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.

Wilmer was born in Houston on August 20, 1933, to William and Elna Morgan. He grew up in Brenham, where he played varsity football and graduated from Brenham High School in 1951. He attended Blinn Junior College where he played football, before going to work for Aramco Oil Company in Saudi Arabia as a surveyor building land topography that is still used today. From there he worked for The Robert H. Ray Co. in North Africa before returning to Texas to complete his degree at Sam Houston State University. After graduation from college, Wil went to work for the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company where he moved from sales into sales management before ending his 34-year career as a Medical science liaison in their medical research division. Wil lived in Marshall, San Antonio, and Houston, while working with Upjohn and also traveled throughout the United States.

Wil loved spending time with his family and friends, he loved traveling the world, and he loved outdoor sports, including fishing and hunting with his close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

Wil is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rebecca Buford Morgan; his brother, Billie Blanton Morgan; daughters, Alisa Sansom and Michelle Brown; stepdaughter, Sarah Fischer, and stepson, Gordon Buford; grandchildren, Morgan Henley Reagan, Huey Daniel Henley III, Brandon Fischer, Samuel Gordon Buford and Matthew Roman Buford; four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful help and service during the last weeks of Wil's life. They would especially like to extend loving thanks and appreciation to his beloved caregiver, Carmen Cortez, for her friendship, caring and loving kindness during the last months of Wil's life.

A memorial service will be held at Emerald Bay Community Church in Bullard on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Darryle Dunks officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
