Love of Learning: We put our students and their dynamic curiosity at the center of the equation. Our students engage deeply with subjects, and take an empowered role in the evolution of their own education. Hands-on, discussion-based, project-oriented learning happens inside and outside the classroom.

New Experiences: The Pacific Northwest is known for its natural beauty. Students in grades 9-12 have the opportunity to go backpacking, rafting, rock climbing, and surfing. Students have a choice of over 30 activities, including Chess, Dance, Environmental Awareness, Mock Trial, Robotics, Speech and Debate, and more. Our performing arts program encourages students to bring out their creative side, whether by writing, acting, or learning stagecraft. Our no-cut sports policy ensures that every student feels the joy of being part of a team. Sports include: soccer, cross country, volleyball, basketball, skiing, tennis, track, lacrosse, golf and fencing. Winterim trips take our students across the city, throughout the United States and around the world.

Residential Life: Our program attracts 60 boarding students from all over the world who share their unique cultures and perspectives. Our international student community is led by 10 incredibly caring faculty dorm parents who help students feel loved and supported. The close relationships that develop here continue beyond our students’ years at OES.

What does the future hold for OES graduates? Anything. Everything. Our college counselors help students navigate high school with an eye toward what comes next, and partner with students and parents to identify colleges that pique students’ interests and support their goals. Students are front and center in the process. Wherever they go, our alumni build the kind of lives only open minds can imagine.
