Larry Howard Bennett

Matthews, North Carolina - Larry Howard Bennett, died January 19, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born May 7, 1936 in Swedesboro, New Jersey, the son of H. Howard and Violet R. Bennett. He graduated from Paulsboro High School and received B. S. and M. S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. Employed by several companies in the United States, he notably spent 13 years with ARAMCO including assignments in England and Saudi Arabia with his family. Larry retired from AREVA in Charlotte in 2005. Starting in High School, Larry was usually a band member where ever he was, most recently playing trumpet with the Matthews Concert Band. An Eagle Scout, he co-founded Cub Scout Pack 3464 in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, which led to the formation of Troop 464. In retirement, he participated in various charitable activities and had a special interest in the Charlotte Symphony, and was a member of the Symphony Guild of Charlotte.

He was married for 58 years to Joyce Bennett, née Korntved, who predeceased him. He is survived by daughters Jennifer Kernisan, Karen Green, son Lyle Bennett, and seven grandchildren. Memorials are requested to be sent to the Charlotte Symphony or Roof Above.
