Robert "Bob" Simms, a beloved member of the community, passed away on June 7, 2023, at the age of 82 in Encinitas, CA from complications of dementia. Born on September 30, 1940, in Los Angeles, CA, Bob was a man of many interests and talents.

Growing up on a grape ranch in Selma, CA, Bob developed a passion for horticulture and had a remarkable ability to make anything grow. He was also a skilled creator and designer, always finding innovative solutions to meet his needs. After his father's passing when Bob was under two, he lived with his mother and Armenian grandmother, which allowed him to become fluent in both Armenian and English. He was loved and influenced by a great number of aunts and uncles.

After completing his education, Bob and Linda sold their home, packed up their sons, ages 7 and 3, and embarked on an extraordinary adventure. They accepted positions at the Karachi American School, where Bob served as an administrator while Linda taught First Grade. Originally planning to stay for only two years, they ended up spending 14 years overseas before returning to the USA.

Bob cherished his family and formed deep connections with many friends. Known for his sense of humor and willingness to lend a helping hand, he was a joy to be around. Colleagues praised his leadership abilities and kindness.

In addition to his wife Linda, Bob is survived by their two sons, Michael and Paul and his daughter-in-law, Beth. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Anna Simms of Coronado, Mary Simms and Brandley Simms of Encinitas, and Violet and Charlie Simms of New York. Bob's stepbrother, Martin Adams, and his wife Sheryl of Houston, TX, as well as his cousin Carolyn Paboojian of Fowler CA also mourn his loss.

Bob's educational journey included attending Franklin Elementary School in Selma, CA, and Selma Union High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Redlands and an additional Master's degree from United States International University.

Throughout his career, Bob made significant contributions in various fields. He worked as a Speech and Hearing Pathologist and served as an International School Administrator in Karachi, Pakistan, from 1969 to 1973. He then joined the Aramco Oil Company Schools in Saudi Arabia from 1973 to 1979. Bob later became a Personnel Supervisor at Aramco from 1979 to 1983 before serving as Vice President at Massey Gas and Oil from 1983 to 1985. Additionally, he owned and managed the Mohawk Car Wash and Gas Station in Solana Beach, CA, as well as Dynamite Shine Auto Detailing. Bob also pursued freelance work in computer education and graphic design.

Bob found solace and community at the San Dieguito United Methodist Church in Encinitas, CA, where he worshipped.

In his leisure time, Bob indulged in numerous hobbies, including carpentry, metal sculpture, gardening, art, and music. His creativity knew no bounds, and he was an avid reader.

A private ceremony will be held for Bob, with no public services planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the University of Redlands, Office of Advancement, 1200 East Colton Ave., 92373, Attn: Robert and Linda Nelson Simms Endowed Scholarship.
