With its headquarters in Dhahran, close to the shores of the Arabian Gulf, the company had its own private beach and yacht club at Half Moon Bay. Entry to the beach was restricted to employees and their families, while membership of the yacht club was dependent upon owning a registered boat.
Not all the news in Aramco’s weekly publications were business. In fact, dependents and their achievements have been part of the company’s long history. Here’s a mix of business and dependent news over the decades.
Aramco and Cognite, a global leader in industrial software, have launched CNTXT, a joint venture based in Saudi Arabia. Headquartered in Riyadh, CNTXT looks to support the Kingdom’s industrial digitalization, and the wider Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region.

Aramco is the highest new entrant in this year’s BrandZ ranking and the achievement is all the more remarkable given none of our IOC competitors have featured in the ranking since 2020. On June, 1st 2007, Engr. Iqbal Ahmed Khan (VP-Saudi Aramco Ex-Employees Association)-SAEEA by the grace of Allah (S.W.A.T.) was blessed with a granddaughter, Zoya Imran. Throughout the years, Zoya has matured into one fine and competent young lady. She is a student in Generation’s school; in the future, she plans to study business and is currently working hard to achieve that goal.
Rehmat Ul Alameen Welfare Organization (RAWO) was established in April 2013 in a small house in Korangi, under the supervision of Col (R) Javed Majid, assisted by Qari Saifullah. The aim of RAWO is to uplift the poor people economically: raise education standards, support them financially, increase their earning capacity and provide a platform to excel further.

In its 89th year, Aramco is making headlines for its performance among the world’s most valuable publicly listed companies. I lived in the temporary house on 16th Street for about eighteen months until I eventually accrued sufficient housing points to bid on some permanent housing. Although I had enjoyed my time in the temporary house and made some good friends, I wanted my wife to visit me occasionally and this would not be possible until I found permanent accommodation.
Here are some interesting headlines over the past 70 years at Aramco. Twenty-two vessels unloaded 40,000 tons of cargo at Dammam port last May. Both the tonnage and the number of ships broke all previous records. Already, new records are being made. On June 7, 13 ships were offloading or waiting to off load. A year ago, 13 freighters was the record for the month.
Aramco’s South Ghawar Producing Department (SGPD) recently won the gold award in two categories at the Green World Awards ceremony, with a first place in “Industry/Energy Management” for SGPD’s Energy Management Program (EnMP), and for “Carbon Reduction” for the zero flaring invention to boost production from low-pressure oil wells and revival of dead wells.
The progress meeting of the Saudi Aramco Ex-Employees Association (SAEEA) was held on June 04, 2022 at Faran Club, Karachi, Pakistan. It has been decided to increase the SAEEA annual subscription, effective July 1, 2022, from Rs.3000 to Rs.4000.

One evening several months ago an American on a business trip to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia stirred his after-dinner coffee and watched the flickering image on his host's television screen come into focus.
Some of the biggest names in Gulf cinema are heading to the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) from June 2-9, in Dhahran, for the eighth edition of the Saudi Film Festival. This year’s theme, “Poetic Cinema,” honors Khalil Al-Rawaf, the first Arab Hollywood star, and director Khalid Al-Siddiq, a pioneer of Kuwaiti cinema.
